What's sumseq?

A lot of people ask me where the name sumseq comes from and what it means.  

The answer is really not exciting at all -- here it is anyways:

Back in high school AOL Instant Messenger was just becoming popular.  As such I needed to pick a screen name.  Most screen names I wanted to pick were taken and I kept getting the automatic suggestions like ron4768436 etc.  I didn't want to have numbers in my screen name so I started looking around on the desk for something I could use.

I happened to be doing my pre-calculus homework at this time and had my TI-85 calculator out on the desk.  The problems I was working on was computing sumations of sequences.

On the TI-85 the syntax to do a summation of a sequence is/was sum seq(.....).

I tried it out and surprise surprise it wasn't taken!  

I have been using sumseq ever since for my e-mail addresses, user names, video game aliases etc.    

It is almost never taken on any site I need to register on and is pretty easy to remember.

Well there it is.  I told you it wasn't very exciting...
